ISTITUTO ITALIANO PER GLI STUDI FILOSOFICI, NAPLES – THE CENTRALITY OF THE SUBJECT FOR THE FOUNDATION OF A METHOD IN THEOLOGY IN THE THEOLOGY OF BERNARD LONERGAN

When Thursday, 2 December 2010 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM

The purpose of the Meeting is that of recalling various issues related to the central role played by the subject in the proposal of a method in theology brought up by of the philosopher, methodologist, theologian, and macroeconomics scholar B. Lonergan (1904-1984), taking into account also that the turn to the subject is a hallmark of the whole Lonergan’s thought.

The Meeting, organized on a local level as a natural integration of the International Workshop on Lonergan held at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici on 2008, will present the positions of several members of the Pontificia Facoltà Teologica dell’Italia Meridionale (PFTIM) of Naples, Italy, of both St Louis Section and St Thomas Section, in dialogue with a scholar of the Lonergan’s thought, Prof. W. A. Mathews of the Milltown Institute of Philosophy and Theology, Dublin, Ireland.

The Meeting is partially supported by the contribution of the “Frederick E. Crowe” Bursary awarded by the Lonergan Research Institute at Regis College, Toronto, Canada, to E. Cibelli.

The partecipation in the Meeting is free. However, due to organizing reasons, the persons who are interested to participate are requested to communicate their intention by e-mail within Monday, November 15th, 2010. The previous communications entitles a person to the registration, abstract booklet, coffee-break, and certificate of participation.
